The components of a cross-border fee
A single international card payment can carry: a platform fee (PayKato), a processor fee (set by the licensed processor), an FX margin (where the payment currency differs from the settlement currency), a payout fee (set by the banking partner that funds your local account), and country- or method-specific surcharges.
- Platform fee — PayKato, from 1.5%
- Processor fee — set by the licensed processor
- FX margin — set by the partner handling conversion
- Payout fee — set by the banking partner
- Refund and chargeback fees — set by the processor
- Reserves — partner-defined, percentage held for a period
