KYC & KYB for Nigerian merchants

PayKato and its licensed partners are required to verify both you and your business. Here's exactly what we collect, why it matters, and how long it takes.

What we collect from your business (KYB)

Business name and CAC registration number. Certificate of Incorporation. Status report or CAC search confirming current standing. Registered business address. Bank account name and number matching the registered business.

What we collect from directors and signatories (KYC)

Full name, date of birth, and government-issued ID. BVN and NIN for Nigerian residents. Proof of address if required by the partner.

  • Document upload happens in your PayKato dashboard
  • Verification is performed via licensed compliance partners
  • Most reviews complete within a few business days
  • Additional documents may be requested for higher-risk categories

Why this is required

AML, KYC, and KYB obligations are mandated by Nigerian regulators and by every licensed payment partner that touches your funds. PayKato collects the documents upfront so the partner approval process is as fast and predictable as possible.

Frequently asked

Can I onboard as a sole proprietor?
Sole-proprietor CAC registration is acceptable in Nigeria. You'll still need to provide director KYC and a business bank account in the registered name.
How long does KYC/KYB take?
Most applications are reviewed within a few business days. Complex categories or missing documents can extend this — we'll always tell you what's outstanding.
Can I be rejected?
Yes. PayKato and its partners may decline merchants based on category, jurisdiction, document quality, or risk profile. If declined, we explain the reason where we're allowed to.
Which processors and banks does PayKato use?
PayKato is built to integrate with licensed payment processors and banking partners. Specific processors and availability are confirmed during merchant onboarding based on country, merchant category, and partner approval.
